About the BoostEcom scanners
If you found this page from a request in your server logs, it came from one of the two BoostEcom user agents below. Neither logs in to your storefront: both read the pages a logged-out visitor sees.
BoostEcom-Scanner, the Store Intelligence crawler
It keeps a public directory of the Shopify ecosystem current: what a store sells, which theme and apps it runs, what it advertises.
BoostEcom-Scanner/1.0 (+https://www.boostecom.app/about/scanner)- What starts itOur own schedule, and a visit to a store's page in the directory. A store is re-read to refresh its record, not polled.
- What it readsPublic pages only: the home page, /products.json, /sitemap.xml, robots.txt and the pages a logged-out visitor can open.
- How it paces itselfA single read (the home page, one /products.json, the favicon) goes ahead. Deeper reads, such as catalogue pages, sitemap walks and funnel pages, obey the Disallow rules robots.txt sets for BoostEcom-Scanner and are spaced out per host.
- How to refuse itA Disallow for BoostEcom-Scanner in robots.txt stops the deep reads. Refusing the token at your server or firewall stops the rest. To leave the directory itself, use the opt-out below.
BoostEcom-TrackingScanner, the tracking audit
It checks which analytics and advertising tags a page fires, and whether they respect consent. It is not a crawler.
BoostEcom-TrackingScanner/1.0 (+https://www.boostecom.app/about/scanner)Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/139.0.0.0 Safari/537.36 BoostEcom-TrackingScanner/1.0 (+https://www.boostecom.app/about/scanner)- What starts itA person who asks BoostEcom to audit the tracking of one URL, on our scan page or through @Atlas. Each run answers one person's request.
- What it readsThat URL and nothing else, twice: a plain HTML fetch, then one load in a real Chrome browser that records the tags and network calls the page makes.
- What the browser doesIt accepts the cookie banner when there is one, to see what fires after consent, and can take screenshots for the report. Its user agent is a Chrome string with the token appended, so the page renders as it does for a visitor.
- How to refuse itIt does not read robots.txt. Refuse the BoostEcom-TrackingScanner token at your server or firewall: both of its requests carry it.
Remove your store from the index
You can opt out at any time. Once we record the request, your store is dropped from the public index and is not scanned or re-indexed by the crawler.
That page also documents where every field in the public index comes from. Prefer to talk to a human? /contact. The rest of what we publish about ourselves is on /about.
