Marketplace overview

Twelve public categories, what each one supports, how a listing gets published, and what it costs.

The BoostEcom marketplace carries two different economies under one roof: products you buy and install, and stores you acquire. They share a catalogue and share almost nothing else.

The twelve public categories

| Category | Buy directly | Hire | Apply | Reviews | |---|:--:|:--:|:--:|:--:| | Apps | ✅ | — | — | ✅ | | Themes | ✅ | — | — | ✅ | | Extensions | ✅ | — | — | ✅ | | Skills | ✅ | — | — | ✅ | | Tools | ✅ | — | — | ✅ | | Prompts | ✅ | — | — | ✅ | | MCP servers | ✅ | — | — | ✅ | | Agencies | — | ✅ | — | ✅ | | Freelancers | — | ✅ | — | ✅ | | Stores | — | — | — | — | | Jobs | — | — | ✅ | — | | Newsletters | — | — | — | — |

Stores tick nothing, and that is correct. A store acquisition is an offer, an escrow and a purchase agreement, not a checkout. See Acquiring a store. It has no reviews because it is a one-shot transfer, not a product with users.

Newsletters is a sponsored placement, not a product.

Empty categories are not indexed

A category is only listed on /marketplace if it has at least one live entry, and a category with zero live entries is served noindex and left out of the sitemap. Pushing "No jobs listed yet." at a search engine helps nobody.

A database that did not answer is not the same as a count of zero: a transient incident does not de-index the catalogue.

Publishing a listing

| Route | Who | What | Cost | |---|---|---|---| | /sell | Anyone, session optional | Stores only | Free, 3% at closing | | /sell/dashboard/new | Identified vendor | All 12 public types | Free, admin review | | /sponsor | Anyone | Any type | Paid placement |

The CTA on a category page sends you to /sponsor for anything other than a store. That is deliberate: non-store placements are sponsored, and the button says so rather than promising a free submission and landing on a pricing page.

Reading the catalogue programmatically

Listings are in the sitemap and carry Product JSON-LD with AggregateRating and Offer. The category and detail pages are meant to be crawled: see AI agents & crawlers.
